چکیده

Adhesively bonding has been increasingly used for numerous industrial applications to meet the high demand lightweight and safer structures. Debonding of adhesively bonded joints is a typical mixed mode failure process. It highly depended on interactional effects material properties geometric definitions constituents, which very complicated. The existing studies in identifying fracture modes based either experiments or finite element analysis are often prohibitively time computational expensive. This paper proposed an innovate method by combining Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) Genetic Programming (GP) understand effect physical attributes single lap joints. A dataset 150 adhesive joint samples generated using LHS, including different combinations adherend adhesive’s thicknesses. ratios calculated Strain Energy Release Rate (SERR) outputs embedded Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics (LEFM), validated experimental tests. Finally, GP model developed trained provide extracted explicit expression evaluating early-state against design variables.

Computational Models of Adhesively Bonded Joints

Simulations using the Finite Element Method (FEM) play an increasingly important role in the design process of joints and fasteners in the aerospace industry. In order to utilize the potential of such adhesive bonding, there is an increasing need for effective and accurate computational methods. The geometry and the nature of an adhesive joint are, however, not so simple to describe effectively...

automatic verification of authentication protocols using genetic programming

implicit and unobserved errors and vulnerabilities issues usually arise in cryptographic protocols and especially in authentication protocols. this may enable an attacker to make serious damages to the desired system, such as having the access to or changing secret documents, interfering in bank transactions, having access to users’ accounts, or may be having the control all over the syste...

Mixed mode fracture testing of adhesively bonded wood specimens using a dual actuator load frame

An experimental evaluation of mixed mode fracture tests conducted on adhesively bonded wood specimens using a dual actuator load frame is presented. This unit allows the fracture mode mixity to be easily varied during testing of a given specimen, providing improved consistency, accuracy, and ease of testing over a range of loading modes. Double cantilever beam (DCB) type specimens made of south...

Experimental investigation of mode I fracture energy of adhesively bonded joints under impact loading conditions

Background Recently, the automotive industry has paid attention to multi-material structures to reduce CO2 emission. Hence, the use of light-weight and high-strength materials such as Al–Mg alloys, high-tensile-strength steel and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP) is essential to lighten the vehicle weight [1]. Joining methods for these dissimilar materials are the key to apply them into t...

Propagation of ultrasonic Lamb waves in adhesively bonded lap joints

This paper considers the bonded joint as a multilayer structure that is analysed using the Transfer Matrix method. In this particular case three layers (two adherents and the adhesive) are considered. The study of this propagation problem may be developed from matrix formulations which describe elastic waves in layered media. This technique combines the theory of the dynamics of the continuum w...
